Thoracic Outlet Syndrome

Overview
Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS) involves compression of nerves or blood vessels between the collarbone and first rib, leading to pain, numbness, and weakness in the upper extremities. Physical therapy addresses this by correcting posture, stretching tight muscles like the scalenes and pectoralis minor, and strengthening surrounding musculature. Manual therapy helps mobilize restricted joints and soft tissues. Dry needling is particularly effective in releasing tension in the involved muscles, reducing nerve compression, and improving circulation, often enhancing the effects of manual therapy.
